Healthy Turmeric Hot Cocoa

Beverages

Learn how to make this deliciously smooth, creamy superfood Turmeric Hot Cocoa, packed full of healthy ingredients and powerful antioxidants!

 Turmeric Cocoa

This turmeric hot chocolate will warm you right up, all while helping to boost your immune system. That’s a win-win if I ever said so myself!

Why should you make healthy turmeric hot cocoa?

Aside from the fact that it’s healthy (yes, I’m saying that again!), turmeric contains curcuma – which holds some pretty stellar anti-inflammatory properties. If you are up for some great reading material, check out the details here on curcuma.

This turmeric cocoa is made from scratch – that’s comforting to know that you can make something good for you right in your very own kitchen.

If you are looking for healthier alternatives to hot cocoa, or you are just looking to try something new, then this cocoa is for you.

Give it a try – you might find that you need this turmeric cocoa in your life on a regular.

Healthy Turmeric Hot Cocoa

Making this cocoa couldn’t be easier! Combine your favorite milk of choice (I’m a huge advocate of raw milk!), with unsweetened cocoa powder, turmeric, coconut oil and your favorite sweetener.

The result is an immune-boosting cocoa that will help pump up your immune system.

Can I substitute some of the ingredients?

You can definitely substitute some of the ingredients.  One thing to remember through: some of the ingredients are needed to make this turmeric cocoa as healthy as possible.

If you aren’t up for using honey, feel free to sub in your favorite sweetener (maple syrup or even stevia). Coconut oil and black pepper are required to help your body absorb the curcuma from the turmeric – please try to keep those in this cocoa for maximum health benefits.

Dairy free? Feel free to use your favorite dairy-free alternative.

Ingredients

  • 1 C milk of choice
  • 1.5 Tbsp unsweetned cocoa powder
  • 1 tsp ground turmeric
  • 2 tsp coconut oil may substitute with butter
  • 1 pinch black pepper
  • 2 tsp honey may substitute with maple syrup or your favorite sweetener

Optional:

  • 1 pinch cayenne pepper

Instructions

  • Pour milk in a small saucepan. Add cocoa powder, turmeric and coconut oil, stir, and bring to boil.
  • Once boiling, turn off the heat, stir in a pinch of black pepper and optional cayenne pepper. Sweeten to taste and serve warm.

Notes

The fat in the coconut oil (or butter) as well as the pinch of black pepper help your body absorb the turmeric better.

Ooh, I’ll have to try it out. My parents drink Curcuma but have never thought of making hot chocolate with it. Thanks for sharing!
