Everyone everywhere – rejoice! The slow cooker has made a reappearance in my kitchen the last few weeks. For quite a while, I had tucked it away, using my Instant Pot for the majority of our dinners.
But recently, I pulled out the slow cooker because there were so many good things I wanted to try in it – not only to save myself time, but I’ll admit – I love having the smells waft through the house.
Good food is the key to happiness in many households.
My kids are thrilled with the slow cooker being back out too, because it brings around some really GOOD dinner meals – like this Slow Cooker Honey Sesame Chicken.
Who needs takeout when you can make this for a fraction of the price?
Slow Cooker Honey Sesame Chicken
This chicken combines the following yummy ingredients:
- Hoisin sauce
- Soy sauce (I prefer low sodium, or use coconut aminos!)
- Honey
- Boneless skinless chicken breasts
- Cornstarch (to thicken the sauce)
Follow the recipe, pile it all in the slow cooker and flip the knob (or, push the button). Wait for the delicious smell of honey sesame chicken to waft through your house and make everyone SO hungry!
They’ll thing you spend all day slaving away on this meal, they’ll fail to realize you just threw it all in the crock pot and the crock did all the work!

Slow Cooker Honey Sesame Chicken
Ingredients
- 2 lbs boneless skinless chicken breasts
- 1/3 C sweet onion diced
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1/2 C honey
- 1/2 C soy sauce
- 1/2 C hoisin sauce
- 2 Tbsp vegetable oil
- 1/4 tsp crushed red pepper flakes
- kosher salt
- finely ground black pepper
- 3 Tbsp cornstarch
Garnish:
- 1 green onion sliced thin
- sesame seeds
Instructions
- In a large bowl, combine onion, garlic, honey, soy sauce, hoisin, vegetable oil and red pepper.
- Place chicken breasts into slow cooker, and pour sauce mixture over chicken. Cover and cook on low heat for 3 hours and 30 minutes.
- In a small bowl, add cornstarch and 1/4 cup of sauce from slow cooker. Mix with whisk until dissolved, and pour back into slow cooker. Gently stir the sauce. Cover and cook for approximately 15-20 minutes.
- Garnish with sliced green onions and sesame seeds.
