Easy yarn wrapped hearts are the perfect craft decoration made with yarn – such a sweet gift for Valentine’s Day, Mother’s Day and even Christmas!
Yarn crafts are some of the best activities for kids of all ages. Who am I kidding, though? They are just as much fun for adults, too!
Yarn crafting is not only simple, it’s such a relaxing way to whip up something special for friends and family. In our case, the perfect rainy day activity to help develop patience and fine motor skills in kids (that would otherwise be hooked on screens!)
Love is in the air! These hearts are great to gift for Valentine’s, Mother’s Day, and even Christmas. Change up colors and the kids could even gift to Dad for Father’s Day and to grandma and grandpa for Grandparents day, too!
Grab some yarn, a scissors, tape, and an old box you can cut a heart from. You’ll have a dozen hearts done in what seems like no time at all.
You might even want to whip them into a beautiful heart mobile to hang in your home!
Yarn Wrapped Hearts
Materials needed:
- cardboard (an old box works incredibly well!)
- scissors
- thread
- adhesive tape
Make it!
Grab an old shipping box you might have laying around. In fact, any piece of cardboard will do. Cut your heart out of the cardboard, making sure to cut as best as you can (you don’t really want a lopsided heart!)
Grab your yarn, and tape the end of your yarn on the back of the cardboard heart. Continue to wind the yarn around the heart, covering the cardboard in its entirety.
When you get close to covering the heart in its entirety, tuck the end of the yarn under several layers to secure the string.
You are done! Repeat to make additional hearts – feel free to use different colors and even larger (or smaller) hearts. When you are done, go a step further and tie them together to make a heart mobile!
