Rose Clay Facial Mask

Essential Oils

This easy rose clay facial mask is perfect for supporting healthy skin and a renewed complexion and is easy to put together! #RoseClay #facialmask #naturalbeauty #kaolinclay #claymask #DIY #beauty

Eight months ago I started using up lots of breast milk I had in my freezer to make milk soap for my family – although I was still breastfeeding (and still am), I had mountains of milk.

And I had always wanted to use it for soap – perfect for my 5 kids and I at home for baths and showers.

Around the same time, I also picked up rose clay – it was the perfect way to color my soap naturally without the use of micas.  It wasn’t long before my oldest daughter asked if she could use rose clay as her face mask one Saturday afternoon.

I was surprised she was taking an interest in what was my passion (soaping and natural clays) — I do think that the beautiful rose color did have a profound affect on her willingness to want to play with it.

As an 11 year old, she doesn’t have any major skin issues ~ but what better way to get her started on a natural skincare regimen than doing facials with her mom. Rose clay is completely safe and wonderful to support a healthy complexion.

What is Rose Clay?

Rose clay is a mild kaolin clay that has exfoliating properties and works wonderfully to support healthy skin. Since clays are very absorbent, it makes them the perfect medium for removing toxins and contaminants from the skin. It can also cleanse and refresh the skin allowing the impurities to work their way out.

Rose Clay Mask

Making a simple mask for your skin is easy peasy – and the perfect way to spend an afternoon with your girls!

Here’s what you need to put this Rose Clay Mask together:

  • 2 Tbsp Rose Clay
  • 1 tsp Bragg Organic Apple Cider Vinegar, Raw, 32 oz
  • 2 Tbsp water
  • 1 drop Frankincense or Lavender essential oil (optional – not required!)

Use a glass or ceramic bowl and mix 2 Tablespoons of Rose Clay with 1 tsp of Apple Cider Vinegar and 2 Tbsp water.  If you are using essential oils add at this time too (optional – not required!) The clay works as a sponge, and will soak up a lot of the liquid. So you may need to use a little more water to thin it out – just make sure the mix stays thick enough to apply to your face.

Apply the mixture to your face.

Leave on your face for 10 – 15 minutes and then rinse off with warm water.

This same mask can be done with bentonite clay as well – simply combine with a little apple cider vinegar and water and apply to face for 10-15 minutes, wash off with a warm wash cloth.

Have you ever used rose clay to make a simple facial mask?
