This delicious Mango Lassi is the ultimate summer drink that comes together easily with just a few simple ingredients - tastes amazing!

Have you ever had a mango lassi? It’s a popular drink at Indian restaurants and surprisingly enough, they’re super simple to whip up at home with just a few simple ingredients.

Lassis can come in a variety of flavors – you can find sweet lassis, salty, fruity, or some are even rich and salty. This mango lassi is basically a yogurt/smoothie made with mango.

It is delicious!

Where do Lassis Come From?

Lassis are a very ancient drink that started in the area of Northern India and Easton Pakistan. A lassi is a blended drink with yogurt, fruit, spices and milk.

Historically, a lassi is touted as a drink that has Ayurvedic healing properties – not only does it or can it, calm the mind but it can also calm the stomach. Therefore, the purpose of a lassi was to help aid digestion.

Lassis come in many varieties – salty, sweet, fruity, even chocolatey. A fresh fruit lassi is a perfect way to cool off in the hot summer months.

Fresh or Frozen?

If you are making this mango lassi, the recipe specifies a fresh mango – if you can’t find a ripe, sweet, fresh mango, you will want to use a frozen.

Add sugar or a little honey (more or less to taste), depending on your preference.

This recipe calls for pistachios and almonds as a garnish – but you can go a step further and try any of these spices on your lassi, too:

  • nutmeg
  • cinnamon
  • cardamom
  • turmeric
  • or, spices like paprika, cayenne, or even saffron
