DIY Fresh & Woodsy Body Wash with Essential Oils

Essential Oils

Fresh & Woodsy Body Wash
Just a few weeks ago we put together Spicy Spruce Body Wash – it was a hit around our house, and 3 weeks later we finally used the pump. That’s right – 3 weeks! 🙂

Making your own is so gratifying, not to mention you aren’t putting unwanted chemicals on your skin that are in commercial body wash products (and making your own is inexpensive, too!)

We picked up Patchouli Essential Oil a month or two ago and hadn’t opened it until just this week ~ my daughter (9 yrs) was smelling our oils on our oil rack and thought it would be the perfect one to use for re-making more body wash.

She told me… “Mom, can’t we use this?”  I said “oh, well I guess let’s try it!”

Shortly after she was in the shower telling me that the combination was amazing. And another body wash scent was born 😉

Patchouli Essential Oil Young Living

And it was!  Patchouli is often called the Scent of the 60’s and is great in skin care products for support ~ it has an earthy smell that I absolutely love.  If you aren’t up for using it alone, you can combine with several other oils for some pretty unique scents:

Now that we have told you why we love Patchouli SO much, here’s a quick DIY you can do to make your own body wash ~ it’s FUN, it’s inexpensive and it lathers up great!

You’ll want to have a few foaming soap pumps ~ we avoid using plastics with Citrus oils but in this case we aren’t using citrus and they are very diluted ~ the Foam Pump works great for the shower (and for kids — if yours are like mine they love to PUMP PUMP PUMP and this makes it lasts MUCH longer!)

Fresh & Woodsy Body Wash

  • 1/4 C. Water
  • 1/4 C. Castile Soap (we use THIS)
  • 1/4 C. Aloe Vera (we found ours on Amazon)
  • 4 drops Patchouli Essential Oil
  • 4 drops Cedarwood Essential Oil
  • 4 drops Spearmint Essential Oil

To make, add everything to a foaming pump – if you don’t have one you can pick up a set of 3 on Amazon. We don’t buy commercial hand soap to use at home so buying a pump full of hand soap is not an option for us, and Amazon Prime delivery is much easier to deal with.

Once you combine the ingredients, flip the bottle back and forth to mix and use in your next shower.

Read our last post to learn WHY we love our Essential Oils so much, and why we chose Young Living.

Young Living Essential Oils

Thankfully Young Living makes it incredibly easy to score a wholesale discount on your oils – when you pick up their starter kit you get ALL of those oils above, and a diffuser – not to mention the opportunity to buy your oils at wholesale cost for the REST of your life.
