DIY Beer Bottle Soap Dispenser

DIY

Easily turn a beer or liquor bottle into a DIY soap dispenser! These DIY Beer Bottle Soap Dispensers are perfect to gift to family and friends!

DIY Beer Bottle Soap Dispenser

I’m always looking for cool and unique ways to re-use some of the things I use at home. Beer bottles are abundant at times. Not because I love beer (it’s still not an acquired taste for me…), but because I make soap and liquid body wash with beer.

Which leaves an empty bottle.

Just recently, my city stopped recycling. That leaves me looking for ways to upcycle things without having to see them go in the trash. Beer bottle soap dispensers are super easy. They also make a wonderful gift that can be re-used over and over.

If you know someone who has a favorite beer, you can even make an attempt to use that empty beer bottle. Make them a unique gift that they’d never probably receive from anyone else.

Or, if you don’t drink, just put out a PSA to friends and family for empty beer bottles. I’ve done this and received an overwhelming response. I’ve gotten both empty beer and liquor bottles. Both of them work wonderful for turning into soap dispensers.

Once you have your empty liquor bottles, the key to using them as a soap dispenser is by finding out what kind of threading your bottle has:

  • Liquor Bottles – most have threads on them
  • Beer Bottles – some may have screw off caps (threaded). Craft bottles use a pry-off cap (no threads)
  • Wine Bottles – some have threads, and others don’t (cork bottles)

You’ll also want to buy these soap pump heads from Ebay, Etsy or on Amazon.

These are all stainless steel pump heads coated in a colored finish (stainless steel, antique copper, or antique bronze).  The pump head is threaded. It also comes with a collar ring (which will make more sense once you read farther below).

Will a soap pump fit my liquor bottle?

Get a 20 oz Coke or Pepsi bottle and take off the cap (it’s threaded). If that threaded cap fits on your liquor bottle then the soap pump will screw on to the top of your liquor bottle.

However, if the 20 oz soda cap does not fit on your liquor bottle, you may need to use a collar ring. A set of collar rings should come with each soap pump – you’ll have to glue that collar ring to the top of the liquor bottle, wait for it to dry. Then, you can screw the pump head onto the collar ring that following day.

If you have to use the collar ring:  I would suggest using Gorilla Glue. Make sure you activate with a little water (as per the directions).

Gorilla Glue

Take your finger and wipe the rim of the liquor bottle with water and then wipe the inside of the collar ring with some water before gluing. Then allow the collar ring to dry on the bottle for 24 hours before screwing on the pump.

To re-fill the soap pump

Unscrew the pump head (if you have a threaded liquor bottle) and re-fill. Or, if you used a collar ring, simply unscrew the pump head from the collar ring that you glued on the bottle.

These DIY Beer Bottle Soap Dispensers make incredible gifts for family and friends. I happened to make mine to gift and I can’t be more excited to share them with someone who will appreciate them.
