Rosehips are a great way to boost your vitamin C – which can be really helpful to keep your immune system in prime condition. Rosehips were also crucial for me in preventing Group B Strep when I was in the latter stages of my pregnancy… and Rosehip Tea was something I consumed daily for several weeks to boost my immune system.
What are Rosehips?
Rosehips are actually the portion of the rose flower directly below the petals. contain the seed of the rose plant – and the dried rosehips and the seeds are used to make medicine.
By opting for foods and drinks that have vitamin C, instead of relying on synthetic vitamin C sources (like vitamins or commercial products that are synthetic) you have a greater chance of keeping yourself healthy.
The best way to get vitamins and minerals your body needs is to eat and drink them in real food – not synthetic capsules or vitamins in store that are not authentic.
How can Rosehips Help Support your Body?
Rosehips play a huge role in supporting your wellness – there are many advantages to taking rosehips… not only are they an immune booster, they help boost your circulation, support a healthy gut, and are great a great form of antioxidants.
#1 – Great for Rheumatoid Arthritis. Rosehip helps decrease the pain associated with rheumatoid arthritis – might also improve your mood. That’s because it has anti-inflammatory properties – these properties help alleviate the pain you may frequently experience.
#2 – High in Antioxidants. Antioxidants are great for the body – they help prevent cancer and keep your immune system healthy by protecting your body from free radicals that oxidative stress this oxidative stress attacks your cells – when your cells die, your body is at higher risk of illness, disease or medical conditions.
#3 – Rich in Vitamin C. Rosehip is rich in Vitamin C, that’s great for boosting your immunity. It’s also great for supporting respiratory issues and prevent asthma. Vitamin C is also responsible for boosting collagen production (which in turn is good for bones!)
#4 – Rosehips are a great immune booster. Rosehip helps prevent both bacterial and viral infections … it does a great job at aiding in circulation.
#5 – Rosehips are great at regulating blood sugar. Which in turn is super for people who suffer from diabetes. They do this by regulating the balance of glucose and insulin – so they prevent sudden changes in blood sugar that can occur frequently.
Like anything else though, rosehips are not a miracle cure. Nor is Vitamin C. They are one of many tools you can use to boost your natural health.
Keeping your gut healthy is the key to a healthy immune system – drinking kefir (which is rich in probiotics), and homemade bone broth helps too. Not to mention incorporating raw milk into your diet (there is a huge difference in raw milk versus pasteurized milk).
Where to buy Rosehips?
Rosehips can be picked up from Mountain Rose Herb – you can also find Organic Rosehips on Amazon, too. If you are lucky enough to have fresh rosehips, you can slice them in half, scrape out the seeds and rinse.
(FYI: The rose hips and seeds have some pretty irritating hairs that need to be washed off really really well.)
To remove the hairs, bring the rosehips to a boil, then steep for 15 minutes – then strain really well to remove the seeds and hairs. Or you can leave them whole, too.
Then, after they steep, add raw honey to create a thick liquid.
