Peppermint Chocolate Lip Balm with Essential Oils

Essential Oils

This Peppermint Chocolate Lip Balm with Essential Oils is SO easy to make - and is pretty awesome to give as a gift!

Making your own lip care is one of the most rewarding things you can do in the area of DIY.

It’s honestly crazy how easy it is – we have made lots of Lip Care over the last year but these had to be the easiest to whip up. Just a few minutes, and the kids were excited to take Peppermint Chocolate Lip Care to school.

With school back in session, my kids love taking their own tube of lip balm to school. Up until now, other DIY lip balms have been nice, but somehow these lip balm tubes always get lost. Then, just recently, my 9 year old mentioned that it would be cool if lip balm could be chocolate… she had no idea you can actually make chocolate lip balm, and combining that chocolate with Peppermint Essential Oil makes it out of this world amazing.

So my kids and I made this together, and now that they each have their own, I watch them pull it out of their pocket and put it on their lips all the time. I repeat: ALL the time.

The best part about making your own is that it costs mere pennies to throw together.

This lip balm put me on the cool mom list – they were undoubtedly happy when I told them they could each have their own..    And I don’t blame them – had I made lip balm at their age I would have been excited too 😉

Peppermint Chocolate Lip Balm, Ingredients:

  • 1 Tbsp Beeswax Pastilles
  • 1 Tbsp Cocoa Butter
  • 1 ½ tsp Coconut Oil
  • ½ tsp Cocoa Powder
  • 10 drops Peppermint Essential Oil
  • 8 drops Vitamin E Oil
  • Empty Lip Balm Containers

Instructions:  In a Pyrex measuring cup or in a glass canning jar that is pint size, combine the beeswax and cocoa butter.  Set the cup/glass in a skillet with 1 ½ – 2 inches of water and melt over low/medium. Or, add items (except essential oil) to a glass pyrex cup and melt in the microwave for 10-15 seconds at a time until melted.

Once melted, add coconut oil and cocoa powder and mix well. Add vitamin E and essential oils, then pour into lip balm tubes or tubs and finish cooling.
