Manuka Honey Lip Scrub

Essential Oils

This really easy Manuka Honey Lip Scrub is great for any season - when we use a scrub, we get the dead layers off of our skin in hopes to find smoother, and potentially even younger skin.

The same goes for the lips.

We aim to scrub the exterior layer to make them more smooth and kissable.

Lip Scrub uses a gritty substance (like sugar) to gently exfoliate the surface layers of your lips.  This sugar removes the outer, dry and yucky surface and brings out the new skin – with the intent of making a smooth, more kissable surface.

Use your scrub regularly and you will prevent your lips from becoming chapped and dry.

Scrubbing your lips only takes a few minutes – add it to your beauty routine once a week, or as needed with a greater emphasis on the winter, where cold weather tends to wreck havoc on your skin.

Making your own at home is relatively easy – throw together a few, simple pantry ingredients.

Homemade Manuka Honey Lip Scrub

Makes one tiny jar:

  • 1 Tbsp Manuka Honey
  • 1 Tsp Coconut Oil
  • Brown Sugar
  • 1 drop of Manuka Essential Oil
  • Small jar – we get ours from Abundant Health

To make: Mix the Manuka Honey & Coconut Oil together. Then, add 1 tsp of brown sugar and mix mix mix. If the mixture is too stiff, add more coconut oil.

Allow to combine or a few minutes then apply to your lips in a circulator motion.

Allow the scrub to sit on your lips a minute or two after you exfoliate, then rinse off with cool water and pat dry. Using Manuka Essential Oil is completely optional – you can substitute with another oil or, eliminate altogether.

Manuka Essential Oil is a mild, and gentler form of Tea Tree Essential Oil (which is great for skin). You only need a drop!

Honey is wonderful for skin – it contains some pretty amazing antibacterial, probiotic, healing properties and it’s super hydrating. Not all honey is the same though… it does matter what type you use.   It’s preferred to use raw and unfiltered – and although you can buy organic honey, or all natural honey, it doesn’t mean anything – as those are still highly processed.  Some of the best honey to use is Manuka Honey because it has the most anti-bacterial properties. You can find Manuka Honey on Amazon.

Brown Sugar serves as the exfoliant to help you get rid of dead skin on the surface of the lips
