Homemade, healthy gummy snacks that are kid friendly and loaded with nutrients that are wonderful for supporting a healthy immune system.
Why drink raw milk?
Or, perhaps you are asking why anyone would make raw milk gummies?
When we were kids, we used to go to the farm next to our house and drink milk straight from the bulk tank of the farm. Fast forward 30 years later, and our family of 7 relies on raw milk weekly from a local organic dairy in our area.
We feel very thankful to have access to raw milk here in Arizona. It’s wonderful for supporting a healthy immune system, and it’s full of rich, living enzymes and vitamins that are in their full, true form.
If you are intolerant to dairy, raw milk is definitely a great option for you. Since it hasn’t been pasteurized, it has the lactase enzyme. That enzyme allows the milk to be easily digested and assimilated into your body.
Our kids love milk. While many other kids might ask for juice or water, when mine need to quench their thirst, they ask for milk. It’s a beautiful thing.
Homemade Gummy Snacks
These gummy bears are made by heating the milk ever so slightly (not much!) along with maple syrup, cinnamon, and grassfed gelatin.
My smallest love to snack on gummy bears through the day. This is such a great way to help support a healthy immune system through the fall and winter months. Peruse Amazon for a fun silicone mold – bears and LEGO blocks work incredibly well for our kids, but there are so many more.
If you are looking for more gummy bear recipes we have several too – find them here and here.
Here are some tips that you will need to follow when making gummy snacks at home:
When using gelatin, do not heat the liquid to boiling – you want the liquid warm, but not too hot. If it’s too hot, the gummies won’t set.
You will need to use between 2-3 Tbsp of gelatin per 1 C. of liquid – anything less and they won’t set properly in the mold.
There is no reason to grease your silicone molds. If you use sufficient gelatin, the gummy snacks will pop right out. If you are using a baking dish, however, then you do need to grease prior to pouring in the liquid.
Ingredients
- 3 Tbp gelatin (we recommend Vital Proteins or Great Lakes)
- 1 C. raw milk
- 1/2 tsp cinnamon
- 1/2 tsp ginger
- 2 Tbsp maple syrup or raw honey (local raw honey is best)
- Silicone molds or a greased glass baking dish
Instructions
- Add the water to a large bowl and sprinkle your gelatin over the top, push aside.
- Combine the spices and raw milk in a medium saucepan on the lowest heat. Whisk to stir and continue to stir 2-3 minutes or until the milk is very warm (do not boil!)
- Turn off the heat, and stir in the maple syrup - mix well.
- Pour the milk and spice mixture into the bowl with the water and gelatin and stir until the gelatin dissolves completely.
- Pour the mixture into your silicone mold and refrigerate until they are firm, at least 3 hours.
- Pop out of the mold and enjoy. Refrigerate leftover gummy bears in an airtight container in the fridge and enjoy within 3-4 days.

These look so fun. How much water do I use with the gelatin?
Jen – you’ll want to use 2-3 Tbsp of gelatin per cup of liquid. Anything less and they won’t set properly! I hope that helps. Let me know how they turn out!!
How long does it take for the gummy bears to spoil?
I am not sure I can answer that — my gummies usually don’t last long. 5 kids, they are gone fairly quickly – not giving much room for spoilage.
