Many people find themselves craving sweet items and sugary foods almost daily – who can’t resist a quick trip through the Krispy Kreme drive through? I know it’s really hard for me at times, too.
One thing that I have always struggled with is an addiction to sweets. I love sugar, and I love everything associated with bars, pies, breads, cookies.. the list goes on. Many other people do too – and while it’s not a bad thing “all” the time, it’s not too smart to eat like that daily.
Not only does sugar wreck havoc on your immune system, it’s damaging for teeth.
After taking a look at my sugar cravings, I did a lot of self examination to ask myself why my body feels the need to want a constant supply of sugar. I have noticed that when I eat better, my cravings just aren’t there.. but when I get lax in eating properly, my cravings return.
The craving for sugar is actually a sign of a mineral deficiency in your body.
Your body is incredibly smart – your migraines are a sign that your body is out of whack somewhere.. just like the eczema on your skin is a sign that your body is off kilter in another area (too much yeast in your body). Your sugar cravings are a sign of a mineral deficiency, and you can actually help your body remedy itself by giving your body the right minerals.
The condition of craving sugar is called “Pica” – and pica is something that happens in humans and in animals alike. In humans, pica is best seen in pregnant women who crave sweets or pickles – the reason for their cravings is due to the fetus absorbing the minerals leaving little there for the woman to satisfy her mineral deficiency.
The reason pica is becoming more prominent now versus 20-30 years ago is because our once nutrient-rich soil is now demineralized and yielding poor produce. Glyphosate is heavily used in farming across the U.S. – and although it might lend way to greater crop “yield” it’s doing so at the expense of our health – mineral deficient soil.
Even more, over 70% of the food in U.S. grocery stores is highly processed, robbing your body of even more minerals and nutrients – creating a window of opportunity for your body to scream “hey! Feed me sugar! I’m hungry for cookies!”
Pica is more widely apparent in people with nutrient poor diets — people who are on a diet, seniors, children who eat a diet high in processed food, people who eat a diet heavy in meat, and even vegans/vegetarians. So few people eat so entirely amazing that they achieve all of their minerals and nutrients on a consistent, daily basis.
How to Stop These Cravings
Stopping these cravings is not hard – but it does require some effort and discipline. You can forego the sugary items by telling yourself they aren’t great for you, but the mineral deficiency will still be there.
The best thing you can do is to normalize your blood sure with trace minerals chromium and vanadium (which have been shown to help support a healthy blood sugar). The best way to do that is to use Ionic Minerals, which are the easiest and most absorbed form of minerals.
Young Living offers Mineral Essence, which contains Vanadium and Chromium:
