Chances are you know someone who has either Psoriasis OR Eczema – perhaps it’s your own children who have one, or the other.
Both are incredibly common in both children and adults – and both are actually allergic conditions that can be triggered by factors such as perfumes, chemicals, soaps, and even laundry soap.
There is a pretty generous difference though between psoriasis and eczema ~ while psoriasis is usually triggered by allergic (external) factors, eczema is normally triggered by diet and food allergies – wheat, nuts, eggs, processed dairy and even seafood in some cases.
In many cases, Food Allergies and imbalances in the gut can be the result of an overgrowth of yeast in the body due to a diet rich in sugar, processed foods, and refined items.
Helping Remedy Eczema
One of the BEST ways to help treat eczema is to eliminate sugar and processed foods from the diet – which essentially means sugar, corn syrup, processed and refined foods (foods in a box from the grocery store), processed flours (if you use Organic flour ensure that it’s unbleached and NOT refined – there is a HUGE difference in processed flour and NON processed flour!)
Instead of using over the counter medicines, look to remedy the diet from the INSIDE on out ~
- Add foods rich in Vitamin A & B – Carrots, Squash, Sweet Potatoes, Dried Beans, Green Leafy Veggies, and Raw Milk.
- One of the most common deficiencies in children is fat soluble vitamins – Raw Milk provides Vitamins A, D and K2 – in comparison to processed milk (with vitamins that have been stripped & re-added), Raw Milk has the vitamins in pure form. (Src)
- Focus on foods high in magnesium – organic grains, and Raw Milk are both great sources of magnesium. Magnesium is great for healthy skin and to prevent allergies. One serving of Raw Milk holds 50 mg of magnesium.
- Increase your intake of Omega 3 and Omega 6 fatty acids in your body – Raw Milk is a great source of Omega 3 and Omega 6 fatty acids. Increase your intake of Flaxseed, Walnuts, Raw Milk and Fish into your diet — they are all rich in Omega 6 fatty acids. (Src)
While topical remedies might help, they won’t fix the underlying problem that can cause the eczema to begin with.
Eczema is a very complex skin condition that can have a variety of causes — but one commonality is diet, and eczema is normally a reflection of a deeper internal balance that is due to poor digestion.
While dairy is usually not recommended, it’s important to understand the difference between processed dairy and Raw Dairy – if you are able to find a Raw Dairy source near you it would definitely be worth adding to your diet.
Other Eczema Remedies
Not only does changing the diet help, direct sun can help boost your vitamin D production which also improves immunity.
You can also incorporate Essential Oils (like Lavender and Geranium) to help soothe the skin when you are suffering from eczema, too.
