DIY Pumice Hand Cleanser

DIY

Whip up this easy DIY pumice hand cleanser in just minutes using simple ingredients – it’s perfect for mechanics or gardeners!

DIY Pumice Hand Cleanser

Years ago when I was a kid, I have memories of my Dad working in his auto shop on cars. After a long day of wrenching, he would be full of oil and grease – he’d reach for the orange hand cleaner scrub.

That big ol’ bottle of orange pumice hand cleaner is commonly found at auto stores and big box retailers in every major city. That orange pumice hand cleaner works incredibly well to get the gunk and grime off hands after a long day of mechanic or garden work.

While you can easily buy the jug of orange pumice hand cleaner in stores, you can easily make it at home with a few simple ingredients and a hand mixer.

DIY Pumice Hand Cleanser

Materials needed:

  • whipped soap base (also called foaming bath whip): 70%
  • dried orange peel powder: 10%
  • pumice: 5%
  • vegetable glycerine: 5%
  • jojoba oil: 5%
  • vitamin E: 3%
  • orange essential oil: 2%

If you are near a Hobby Lobby, you can pick up the whipped soap base there for a great price with a coupon. You might also want to check your local soap supply store (if you have one in your area) for whipped soap base.

Instructions:

This DIY pumice hand cleanser is super easy to put together. Simply weigh all ingredients with the exception of pumice, citrus peel and essential oil. Whip until light and fluffy.

Slowly add in the pumice, followed by the citrus peel and essential oil. Continue to whip until everything is incorporated – add any additional pumice as needed.

Scoop out of mixer into jars and lightly tap on the tabletop to settle the mixture. Top off with more pumice cleanser as needed to fill container. Add a lid and use as needed after gardening or auto care work.

If desired, change up the essential oils or forego completely – depending on your preference.

This DIY pumice hand cleanser is great to gift for the gardener or auto care mechanic!
