Homemade Hair Gel with Essential Oils

Homemade Hair Gel with Essential Oils

Have you ever wanted to make your own Hair Gel? Did you ever think you COULD make your own?

It’s SO easy – you will wonder why you have been buying it all these years. The best part… is that it costs MUCH less and only has a few simple ingredients!

My boys go crazy for hair gel – this way, I can make them their own (individual) bottles… they can spray it on in the morning and there isn’t any fighting over a “single” bottle.

I don’t use gel often, but after using this a few days it really was super ~ not too heavy, not too light and never flaked, as regular gel can sometimes do.

DIY Homemade Hair Gel

  • 6-7 drops Essential Oil (we used Lavender, but you can also use Tea Tree AND Rosemary, too!)
  • 1/3 C. Aloe Vera Gel (we used THIS)
  • 1/2 C. Warm Water
  • 2 Tbsp Sugar
  • 1/2 tsp Vitamin E Oil
  • Spray Bottle (ours was a travel size)

As long as you aren’t using Citrus you should be fine with a plastic bottle that is PET plastic…. but we don’t recommend using more Essential Oils than what we have noted above.  Can’t find a spray bottle to fit the ingredients? Just pare them down a little ~ 1/3 C. water, 1/4 C. Aloe vera – try to keep the same ratios and it’ll come out fine.

To Make:

Dissolve the sugar in the warm water. Once dissolved, add the Aloe Vera Gel, and Vitamin E Oil – then mix in the Essential Oil and put the cap on.

Once cap is on, gently turn to distribute ingredients. Use just as you would regular gel.

Do you use Essential Oils? We do and have for 3 years – we feel comfortable with Young Living and would not recommend anything else. Read more about WHY we chose Young Living on our last post.

April, sugar gives it a little texture. You can omit if you wish.
