I have a huge confession – if you don’t already know, I am a HUGE oily addict.
I use Essential Oils for everything.
They are my main go-to for health and wellness on a daily basis. And because not everyone is an oily addict, I always seem to get questions about what oils are used for. You can use essential oils for MANY things – I use them for beauty products, cleaning, mood support and my own personal wellness goals. I use them for my kids (I should say RELY) … my spouse, in my car, to help my family members and even to do my laundry.
I am unique from most Americans in that we don’t buy any of the store beauty products – no shampoo, no conditioner, no shave cream or lotion… no toothpaste or mouthwash – the list could go on and on.
Had you have told me that 5-7 years ago I would have laughed in your face – why not buy things when you can get them free with coupons? Why even waste your time making your own health and beauty products?
The answer is easy … those “FREE” items with coupons really aren’t always the best things for you. From toothpaste to shampoo, they all contain some pretty toxic ingredients (whether you realize or not..) – and why buy when you can make your own ?
I would love to tell you about ALL of my favorite essential oils.. and everything I use them for in great detail, but that would take several hours – perhaps even a book.
You probably wouldn’t want to read it… so we’ll skip that 🙂
The Young Living Starter Kit is exactly how I got into Essential Oils – and a great friend who thought I would love using them for my family. She was right. The best way to start with Essential Oils was this kit – it had 11 Essential Oils, a diffuser and several additional items.
At the start, I had NO idea what I was getting into – I really didn’t realize that Essential Oils can do SO much… until I started reading the Quick Reference Guide I received (400+ pages) and was added to a huge networking Facebook group about Young Living Essential Oils.
I was blown away….
Fast forward a few years … to 2016, and that starter kit is one of the best ways to get started. And what better way to diffuse than with some basic diffuser combinations you can do with the oils that come in the starter kit.
Did you know…
When you inhale Essential Oils through your nose, tiny nerves send an immediate signal to the brain; at that point in time, the brain immediately goes to work on the systems that moderate your mind and body.
Inhalation is the most direct method of nurturing components in essential oils: the chemical messengers in the nasal cavity have direct access to your brain.
Essential oils have the ability to pass the blood/brain barrier and penetrate membranes allows them to reach the emotional center of the brain in seconds.

I’ve been “researching” essential oils, their uses, if they really work, the best oils out there, etc. I’d like your help, if you don’t mind. I know they can be expensive as well and I’ve hesitated to buy because of my husband thinking, “here she goes, wasting money on stuff that won’t work again”. Ive been looking for things to help with our health. We have allergy, sinus and migraine issues quite often as well as my son and I having ADD/ADHD, and my husband has diabetes. HELP! ?
Hi Kelli,
We had issues too.. primarily my husband when he returned from deployment. That’s what got me to start looking into them too. It can be hard to get your spouse on board, at least it was for me. .. for the same reasons you mention. There is so much information .. it’s hard to know where to start and where to find unbiased reading material (if that makes sense?)
I didn’t always use Young Living, I started with cheaper oils from the store not realizing that they were mostly fragrance oils.. many of them are synthetically created. So while they smell good, they don’t have many of the health benefits that non-grocery store or health store type oils have. (it seems like TONS of stores sell oils now .. which is crazy). I had a good friend who used Young Living so that’s how I started, and I’m using them now.. it’s been 3 years.. we use them religiously. I had those migraine issues for a long time too (before baby 5) and it made me do a lot of reading, and I don’t have them nearly at all now.. but it took a lot of different changes to get me to that point.
I’d love to help you, you are welcome to email me if you would like, and I can point you in the direction of some resources to help you make better decisions with those things you mentioned. My email is dcuevas34 (at) gmail (dot) com.
