VHS Movie Cover Bookmarks

DIY

Transform an old VHS movie case into these unique VHS Movie Cover Bookmarks – they’re easy to make, simple to clean and great to give as gifts!

VHS Bookmark

It hasn’t been all that long ago since VHS was king – in fact, if you still look hard enough, you can pick up VHS tapes at your local thrift store.

Or, you might just have neighbors willing to give you tub upon tub of VHS tapes.

I love finding ways to upcycle things that I once adored (aka – VHS tapes!) and turn them into something fun and unique. It’s even better when you can gift something that has some unique nostalgia.

VHS Movie Cover Bookmarks

These VHS Movie Cover Notebooks are simple to make.  Grab your old VHS tapes and carefully open up the box and lay it flat. You’ll need to have the following items to make this a seamless DIY:

    • Laminator (this is the one I use and it works great)
    • Laminating pouches
    • VHS tape
    • Rotary cutter
    • Rotary cutting mat
    • Quilting ruler

Directions:

VHS Movie Cover Notebook

Open up the VHS by carefully sliding your finger under the glue on the side of the VHS box. Flatten it out and place it on a hard surface on top of your rotary mat.

Take your quilting ruler and rotary cutter and slice off the front and back cover at the seams, you can use these to make your VHS Movie Notebook (see that DIY here). Then, carefully trim down the spines – these will be your bookmarks.

VHS Movie Cover Bookmark

Collect all of your bookmarks (assuming you have more than just two). Place them in the laminating pouch that you have set aside.

You’ll want to make sure you space them in the pouch so that they are 1-2 inches apart from each other. Put the creased side of the pouch in the laminator first, and gently feed the sheet through the laminator. This will take some maneuvering – the bookmarks will want to wiggle in the pouch, so hold it under the pouch as you feed it through.

Once you’re done laminating the sheet, use your paper cutter to trim out each bookmark, leaving 1/4 inch on each side.

That’s it! You have a VHS Movie Cover Bookmark!

Don’t want to bother making them yourself?

You can find VHS Movie Notebooks and Movie Cover Bookmarks in my shop with free shipping!
