Picking up store bought mint extract is quite a bit more in cost than making it yourself. This simple recipe for Homemade Mint Extract requires just two ingredients and a little bit of hands-off waiting time:

- Vodka – 750ml was $7.99 (or $.31 per oz)
So for just a fraction of the price of store purchased mint extract you can make your own much more affordably.

Homemade Mint Extract
Ingredients
- 1 C fresh mint
- 1.25 C vodka
Instructions
- Wash mint and pat dry so there is no water on it.
- Slightly break/crush/chop mint leaves and add them to a jar. Pour vodka over the mint and place lid on jar. It is important that the leaves stay submerged.
- Place in a dark area and shake it every few days over the next four weeks.
- After four weeks strain the leaves off and pour the liquid into small bottles.
Notes
- You can add the leaves to small bottles like pictured however they are harder to get the leaves out when it comes time to strain it.
- If you want your extract even stronger, you can change out the mint each week and keep using the same vodka.
