Here’s an easy way to make your own Homemade Makeup Remover if you love Essential Oils. You will LOVE this DIY!
The best part about this makeup remover is that it has only a handful of ingredients ~ most of which any Oily person would have in their cabinet.
This makeup remover takes just a few seconds to whip up ~ even better, if you don’t wear makeup (like me!) it works JUST as well as a skin freshener, too! You can make it in a smaller jar (like we have pictured below) or, you can double or triple the recipe to make a larger amount.
My 10 year old loves using these pads in the morning to freshen her face before school… and I don’t have to worry about harmful, toxic ingredients since she is so young.
If you don’t have V6 Carrier Oil from Young Living you can incorporate fractionated coconut oil too – it works just as well.
The best container we have found for these pads are the 4 oz. Jelly Jars ~ you can pick up on Amazon for a great price!

Ingredients:
- 1 Tbsp Non-Alcoholic Witch Hazel
- 2 Tbsp Young Living V6 Carrier Oil (or, use fractionated coconut oil!)
- 2 Tbsp Distilled Water
- 4 drops Lavender Essential Oil
- Optional: Tea Tree Essential Oil
- Organic Cotton Rounds
- 4 oz Glass Jar with a lid (Jelly Jars work super for this!)
To make: Mix the Witch Hazel, Carrier Oil, Water, and Lavender together in a 4 oz glass jar with lid ~ set 10 of the cotton rounds within. Screw on the lid, and gently turn upside down to saturate the pads.
To use: Remove one, and blot out the extra liquid – then close your eyes, and gently wipe your face from cosmetics or, to freshen skin.
Can you use any typ of carrier oil?
You sure can – if you don’t have V6 you could use Fractionated Coconut Oil or even Jojoba… Rosehip – whatever you have works great š
Where have these been all my life?!?! Seriously, I read this a few days ago and tried it. I love how it take my makeup off and how moisturizers it leaves my face! Thank you!!!
Glad you love it š I do too. I usually triple the recipe and keep it in a ball canning jar, that way I have plenty. They are in my hospital bag for whenever baby comes.. which should be ANY day š
Is it safe to use these to remove eye makeup like mascara or will the EO irritate the eyes?
You sure can – it’s diluted enough that it shouldn’t be an issue š
May I know how long can I keep it when those pad is inside the glass?
I made a large canning jar ( Pint size ) and it took me over a month to use them, I share with my daughter. They should last several weeks š
Can i make it in a pump bottle instead of soaking the round pads inside the jar? Will that make a differences?
You could certainly try! I haven’t tried that yet, but the solution is definitely liquid enough to go in a pump bottle. Then just pair with cotton balls or something like cotton pads. Let me know how it turns out š
So how do I get the ingredients and amounts for this? Did I miss it? I am already a young living rep and haven’t seen this one yet. Please I would love the details that appeared to be available on the post.
Laura, ingredients and amounts are listed & linked right in the post. If you are a YL rep you can order v6 carrier oil from logging into your Virtual Office. Use the measurements provided & I hope you enjoy! š
Does it need to be V-6 or would any carrier oil work?
hi Debbie – any carrier would work š
Thanks so much for the reply!
How many drops of tea tree?
Thank you
6-7 should be sufficient Lorraine. Hope that helps!
I LOVE this oil makeup remover! Thank you for sharing the recipe! I wanted to make something that would remove my makeup and Iām glad I came across your post! I followed the recipe but added 1 drop of Tea Tree in addition to the 4 drops of Lavender oil. It left my skin soft and clean.
