Homemade Foaming Body Wash

Making your own beauty items is one of the MOST rewarding things – well, besides making your own bread 😉

We love doing both honestly.

If you would have told me 5 years ago that I wouldn’t be buying bottles in store, and I would be making my own, I would have looked at you sideways – really? Really.

It’s SO easy to make your own – one of the BEST reasons you should is to avoid the chemicals and toxic ingredients in conventional body wash. Believe it or not, although you might be able to score it FREE (occasionally) with coupons, that stuff in store is not all that it’s cracked up to be.

You’ll want to have a few foaming soap pumps ~ we avoid using plastics with Citrus oils but in this case we aren’t using citrus and they are very diluted ~ the Foam Pump works great for the shower (and for kids).  Use any

Homemade Foaming Body Wash

  • 1/4 C. Water
  • 1/4 C. Castile Soap (we use THIS)
  • 1/4 C. Aloe Vera (we found ours on Amazon)
  • 6-8 drops of your favorite essential oil (see what we recommend HERE)

Gentle Baby is great for those of you who have small children; OR you can use a combination of Christmas Spirit and Idaho Blue Spruce. Lavender is just as great, too!

To make, add everything to a foaming pump – if you don’t have one you can pick up a set of 3 on Amazon. We don’t buy commercial hand soap to use at home so buying a pump full of hand soap is not an option for us, and Amazon Prime delivery is much easier to deal with.

Once you combine the ingredients, flip the bottle back and forth to mix and use in your next shower.

Remember… that many Essential Oils you find in store are merely fragrance oils – and should never be applied to your body OR ingested.  These oils are created as synthetic substances – the smell is a mere imitation, but the therapeutic properties are not present. You’ll want to make sure you are using real quality, therapeutic grade essential oils – we recommend Young Living.

While there are many companies and brands out there, we recommend Young Living because not only do they have their own fields, they have a Seed to Seal promise that ensures that they are providing oils that are genuine, free of synthetics and of unmatched purity.

From the time the seeds are planted to the time they seal their bottles, they are undoubtedly providing a wonderful final product without compromise. Thankfully they allow you to score your oils at wholesale cost when you buy their Premium Starter Kit – you’ll score 11 of the most popular oils, a diffuser, and much more.
