Homemade 10 Minute Tinted Lip Balm Recipe

Essential Oils

Use a few simple ingredients to make this homemade tinted lip balm - it's great to gift or keep a few for yourself!

I’m definitely one of those people who loves lip balm ~ and I can’t have enough of them in my purse.

If you dig around my purse, you’ll find that at any given time you may find as many as 6 or 7 in there, rolling around on the bottom or in the pockets.

Use a few simple ingredients to make this homemade tinted lip balm - it's great to gift or keep a few for yourself!

With winter here, it’s incredibly important to keep your lips hydrated so they don’t get chapped. Forget about winter though, here in Arizona it’s just as important to keep them hydrated all year – even in the middle of the summer heat.

Lip balm is such a wonderful holiday gift idea too ~ once you start making your own, you will never go back to buying the kind they sell in store.

Not to mention you will want to make 1,001 different versions. 🙂

That’s not necessarily a bad thing though, right?!

Use a few simple ingredients to make this homemade tinted lip balm - it's great to gift or keep a few for yourself!

This basic lip balm recipe is incredibly easy and will produce a lip balm that is firm, yet still softens upon contact with your lips. It’s perfect for tubes or even pots.

The best part of this lip balm is that you can alter it to suit your needs – if you would like to have it more soft, then add a little extra coconut oil.

Homemade 10 Minute Tinted Lip Balm Recipe

  • 3 Tbsp Beeswax Pellets
  • 2 bsp Shea Butter
  • 4 Tbsp Coconut Oil
  • 25 drops of your favorite Essential Oil (we recommend Young Living)
  • 1/2 tsp Red Rose Mica Powder

To make:  In a glass Pyrex Cup or microwave safe glass container, melt the beeswax, coconut oil and shea butter in 30 second increments, stirring well after every 15-20 second zap.  Once melted, remove the Pyrex from the microwave and stir in the essential oil (20-25 drops or a combination of oils).

Carefully pour into pots or tubes and allow to cool before using.

Don’t have the same pill containers we used? It’s ok ~ we got ours on clearance at CVS a LONG time ago. You can find lip balm tubs on Amazon HERE.
