We’ve DIY’d quite a bit of our personal care products over the last few years, including this easy to make facial toner.

For SO long, I remember using relatively harsh toners on my skin – from my high school days of Noxzema and Oxy Pads that stung when you wiped them across your face, to more costlier toners that we hoped would help clear up my teenage acne.

As the years have passed, my skin has aged.. and I am understandably more concerned about what I use on my skin each day to help keep it in it’s relatively youthful state (even though I’m pushing 40!)

Most of those commercial toners and facial cleansing wipes on the market today have some questionable ingredients – not to mention fragrance and artificial dye.

Thankfully it’s easier and cheaper to DIY your own using Apple Cider Vinegar. You want to pick up the raw, unfiltered and unpasteurized with the mother (that cloudy substance in the jar).

  • The mother is killed when vinegar is processed (heated, filtered, altered)
  • The mother is used to make additional vinegar (much like a sourdough starter)
  • You can eat and drink the mother – it’s wonderful to add to your water and has a myriad of health benefits
  • The mother has natural enzymes and minerals that are beneficial for your skin

Give it a try and you might find that you like this so much more than the varieties in store.
