Late last week I found myself looking for a really good all purpose healing salve ~ not just for myself but for my kids.
I had picked up a new mandoline and was using it to make beet cheeps when I sliced my finger ~as careful as I was trying to be, obviously I wasn’t careful enough!
My finger hurt so bad for hours, and now it’s a week later and it’s still very sore. I taped it up as best as I could and changed that tape out several times over, but no matter how much I took care of it, having to wash dishes and do housework all day didn’t help to heal it any faster.
I decided to make a healing salve that I could use and I could share with my kids ~ with 5 kids, someone is always bumping themselves outside and coming in with cuts and scrapes. So this would kind of work like a Neosporin in a sense that it would help heal the affected area a little quicker.
I have avoided using Neosporin for years because it contains petroleum and that’s something we have tried to avoid using. This healing salve is perfect for cuts, scrapes, burns, and times when your skin needs an extra little help.
This healing salve is incredibly easy to make – you can make it in large batches by doubling the recipe or, use the recipe to make 2 smaller jars.
We use Ball Canning jelly jars because they are relatively inexpensive, but you can also pick up jars at Abundant Health, too!
