Whiskey Barbecue Sauce

This Whiskey Barbecue (BBQ) Sauce is hands-down, the best sauce around! It comes together in less than 15 minutes with easy ingredients that pack a punch in flavor!

Equipment

  • Immersion Blender or Regular Blender
  • Medium Saucepan or Skillet
  • Pint Jars for Storage

Ingredients

  • 3/4 C Whiskey
  • 1/2 onion sliced thin
  • 3 cloves garlic minced
  • 1/2 C brown sugar
  • 2 C ketchup
  • 2 Tbsp tomato paste
  • 1/3 C apple cider vinegar
  • 2 Tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 2 tsp liquid smoke
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp hot sauce

Instructions

  • Add Whiskey, sliced onion and minced garlic to medium skillet or saucepan. Sauce the onions and garlic in the whiskey until the onions are transluscent, 5-7 minutes.
  • Stir in the remainder of the ingredients. Bring to a boil, then immediately reduce the heat and simmer for just under 10 minutes.
  • Pour mixture into blender and top with lid to blend until smooth. Or, use immersion blender to blend until the sauce is a smooth consistency.
  • Pour into storage containers and top tightly with lid. Refrigerate until serving. When properly refrigerated, the sauce will last for up to 2 weeks.
