If it’s one thing that we don’t clean enough in our house it’s scrubbing the kitchen sink – it’s one of those things that gets stained so easily, yet we procrastinate in efforts to clean other things that are more visible – the floor, the walls, sofas, carpet..
We have a fluted porcelain sink that’s ivory in color – and as much as I love it, it stains SO fast and so easily.
Just the other night I decided on a whim to give it a scrub while I was waiting for dinner to come to a boil on the stove, and was surprised I was able to get it to look as good as new with just a few simple things under the cabinet.
In the past, my husband has always bought Barkeepers Friend. I never realized how well Baking Soda, Thieves Cleaner, & Lemon Essential Oil would work together – I don’t think we’ll be buying Barkeepers Friend from this point going forward!
To think that I just opted to do this sink cleaning on a whim is crazy – I never realized just a few minutes later I’d be taking pictures of a beautiful (like new) sink!
To clean each side of the sink:
- 1 C. Baking Soda
- 1 Capful of Thieves Cleaner
- 10 drops Lemon Essential Oil
To use: First, I sprinkled that 1 C. of baking soda in the sink evenly as to cover the entire bottom area. Over the baking soda, I sprayed a generous amount of baking soda, then sprinkled on 10 drops of Young Living Lemon Essential Oil.
I took out my green scrub pad and gave it some elbow grease – and within just a minute or two the sink was cleaned up and all of the stains are removed.
Give it a little more power by using a 1/2 C. vinegar poured on the baking soda before you add the lemon essential oil and you might not have to scrub quite as much.
Wondering what oils we recommend? We love Young Living Essential Oils.
